They will grace your windowsills, benefit your cooking ventures & provide ongoing pleasure through the winter months! This spruce has proven itself winter hardy throughout the Great Plains, & grows best in full sun to light shade.

TIME TO GET READY FOR COLDER WEATHER!
As previously mentioned, we are now sensing the urgency to prepare for the winter months ahead. Better to be prepared than caught unaware. Cool weather veggie crops have been planted, & folks are eager to get a taste of goodies that aren't around during hotter times. Watching the weather forecast is always important this time of the year, as conditions can change quickly. Be mindful of covering beds when frost is on its way, & getting last minute crops harvested & stowed away in the root cellar. Don't have a root cellar or want to find out more? Click here to read extra about this fascinating subject!
Clean those tools! As the seasons change, it's also great to double-check the condition of your gardening equipment. Make sure those tools are residue free & scrubbed thoroughly-a stiff brush should do the trick. Dry them well, & apply a thin layer of mineral oil for protection. You might really get in the spirit & decide to sharpen any tools that require it; congrats, you're ahead of the game for next spring!
Tidy the house & bring the outdoors in by going green! Yes, Ricky & Lucy's loves houseplants as much as we love the outdoor garden beds! Houseplants create a warm, inviting sense of space in the home. They feed our enthusiasm for all things growing year round, & they make wonderful conversation pieces. Plus, they clean the air! Those of you that have received our newsletter for quite some time might recall an article we found on the internet about the NASA study of Sick Building Syndrome. Yes, believe it or not, there is such a thing. NASA research proved that houseplants help remove indoor air pollution caused by Sick Building Syndrome. It's no accident that you see interior landscaping with houseplants in malls, offices, restaurants & the like. Certain plants are best at removing certain toxins.
Ricky & Lucy's carries many of these houseplants in an assortment of beautiful, unusual cultivars. We always provide care sheets with our plants, & we've answered many phone calls about houseplant concerns! You don't have to be a plant rocket scientist to grow these guys, either. Rest assured: our plants are perfect for oneself or for giving! If you'd like to read the entire article about the NASA study, click here.
